The Founder and Executive Director of the Becky Baker Foundation, Rick Baker, launched #Golf4Prevention for two reasons. First, he loves golf, having played on the Sunbelt Senior Tour from 2009-2016. Second, and because of his love for the game, he wanted to produce PGA-level charity scramble tournaments that would help fund the foundation. Bucket list events that the players would never forget.
His first tournaments were held at The Broadmoor, the World's Number One Golf Resort, in 2020. The tournament sold out four months before the event. His next event was also at The Broadmoor, but this time he booked both courses. 288 players descended on the resort for an epic day. The pro there said it was the best event in memory.
In 2022, The #Golf4Prevention Tour moved to Cheyenne Mountain Resort and added another Tour event in Pueblo, CO., at the Pueblo Country Club.
Those events netted over $100,000 and provided close to 500 breast cancer screenings for women who could not afford the test.
In 2023, the Pueblo event is May 15 and the Cheyenne Mountain tourney is July 17.
Stay tuned for more venues being added this year.
